Anthy Himemiya (Revolutionary Girl Utena)
Anime . Cosplay . Fantasy
Debuted: Sakuracon 2014

Anthy was a true test of my skills as I didn’t often make ballgowns. However, I’ve always loved her Rose Bride dress, so I had to make it happen for Sakuracon.
I patterned and constructed her jacket and skirt from scratch. I also made an additional layer to my crinoline underskirt for maximum volume. Her skirt took a bit of complicated math – and in the end it was made of two circle skirts for extra flowy look and the whole cosplay used over 12 yards of red cotton sateen.
The shoulder balls were actually made with ping pong balls threaded with embroidery thread and painted gold. The crown was made with styrene and craft foam.
The wig was a much shorter lace front, discontinued Marty from Arda, which I lengthened by adding wefts to the front and back and then styled into an updo with hair sponges for structure.
